Don's Clients Weigh In:
One of my geldings is very pigeon toed, when I rescued him as a weanling, I really didn’t have any hopes of being able to ride him in the future, now 6 years later, he is my main riding horse. I credit Don for keeping him sound, and shoeing him without a lot of unnecessary modification and special shoes, he works with the horses natural conformation and gets the desired result. My pigeon toed gelding has never once taken a lame step. If something special is truly needed, Don can and will do that too.
I wish all farriers were like Don, he’s one of the good guys!!!
Sincerely,
Heidi Olds

When I think about Don Potesta, the first word that comes to mind is integrity. To me, that is the highest compliment I can pay someone. Don not only cares for my horse’s hooves, he cares about their well-being. He is superbly skilled at sizing up a horse’s natural way of going and bringing each hoof into balance.
Don’s people skills are very strong as well. He is a thoughtful, well-spoken, and dependable person – someone you are proud to have come to your barn and work around your kids. That’s not all. Don is a very gifted clinician.
Recently, he conducted a Safe Horse Handling and Emergency Shoeing Clinic at our barn. His presentation was well-organized, informative, and extremely helpful. Clinic attendees left knowing how to safely handle their horse’s legs and feet, and how to take off or replace a shoe. In my book, Don is an exceptional clinician, farrier, and human being!
